4 out of 10 women worry about their neck

The percentage of patients who want to improve the appearance of their neck is 40%, of the total number of people who go to the expert for changes in the face, affirmed the doctor Rosendo Ayala, plastic surgeon and member of the Mexican Association of Plastic Surgery, Aesthetic and Reconstructive (AMPER)

According to Ayala, although the entire population is vulnerable to manifesting damage or aesthetic disorders in the neck, it is more common for women to pay more attention to it: “The most common aesthetic conditions in the region have to do with changes in its texture. , color disorders, loss of firmness in the skin and tissues, as well as the appearance of wrinkles and pronounced lines ”.

The plastic surgeon pointed out that the factors that generate this type of change are mainly caused by photo-sun damage, aging, weight loss, among others: “It is proven that the skin in this area is more sensitive than that of the rest of the body and similar to that of the face; a common mistake is that when we expose ourselves to the sun, we take prevention and care measures only on the face, but we neglect our neck ”.

Ayala specified that the common preventive actions that must be carried out to keep the neck looking young and healthy at any age, are the use of cream and sunscreen; in addition to radiofrequency, application of botulinum toxin type “A”, Dysport®; and even undergoing procedures such as peelings, fine fillers, and revitalizers:

“There are also highly satisfactory types of minor surgeries such as double chin liposuction, chin implantation, and removal of Bichat (cheek) fat bags”. The member of the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, indicated that existing treatments can be preventive and also corrective, so the decision of the most optimal procedure will depend on the patient’s age, skin type, and variations in weight, as well as sun exposure habits.
